DIVISIONS

The Marketing and Distribution Division of Premier Farnell operates predominantly in the high service, time critical sector of the electronic components market, focused particularly on the needs of design engineers and purchasing professionals globally. The Group's multi-channel approach offers quality data and information on products and services with a supplier line card and stock profile developed to anticipate and meet customers needs. The depth of stock ensures the important needs of the maintenance and repair customer sector are also met.
The North and South American markets are principally served by Newark and MCM, which operate distribution centres in the USA and Brazil and have offices throughout the USA, Canada, Mexico and Brazil. Newark is the market leader in North America.
The Europe and Asia Pacific region is served by Farnell, Premier Electronics, Farnell-Newark and CPC. These businesses have a sales presence the UK, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.
The Marketing and Distribution Division focuses on customers’ activities in R&D, prototyping, small scale production and maintenance, repair and operations. These customers increasingly require a supplier with depth and breadth of stock in leading brand products, strong and flexible electronic purchasing capability, vender managed inventory services and the capacity to provide technical support. They demand high levels of order fulfillment and reliable delivery, a variety of value added services and, for larger companies, national and international coverage.
The market for time-critical, small orders is very large, but the supply position is fragmented, with many small regional and local competitors. Few can match the Division’s extensive product range, broad geographical coverage and wide spectrum of services. The introduction of customer relationship management techniques, customer-focused services and a full range of eCommerce skills has strengthened the Division’s proposition even further.
The Division occupies an important position in the supply chain, linking over 3,000 suppliers to their markets. As well as an efficient small-order distribution system, suppliers need a distributor to communicate with large numbers of research, design and development engineers to enable their products to be designed into new equipment and to gather end-user feedback on the suitability and performance of their products. They also need market information about variations in product demand and new areas of growth. These capabilities are increasingly being developed and enhanced.
