One person’s rubbish is another’s gold - Premier Farnell donates electronic design waste materials to benefit the Scrap Creative Reuse Project
Premier Farnell has donated items such as transistors, resistors, surface mount components, spools of wire and even a quarter of a ton of used solder for use in art projects through the Scrap Creative Reuse Project. This ongoing project provides the Group with an ideal opportunity to donate electronic design waste materials and prevent them going into landfill. This is yet another example of the Group’s commitment to sustaining the environment in which we live.
Scrap Creative Reuse is a unique social enterprise which promotes the belief that waste materials are a precious resource. They give value to unwanted objects, rejects, damaged stock and landfill for reuse in creative purposes. They take waste materials and give ideas an inspiration to reuse them in an imaginative way.
“Working in partnership with Premier Farnell and other businesses in the community enables us to take their scrap materials for reuse in creative arts projects,” said Louise Lucas, Managing Director of Scrap Creative Reuse, Ltd. “Not only are we diverting waste from landfill but we are giving individuals the ability to be creative and use their imagination to create beautiful and sometimes rather unique art projects.
“We are grateful for programmes like the Scrap Creative Reuse Project,” said Des North, Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Manager of Premier Farnell. “By providing our electronic design waste material to the project, it allows us to reduce our landfill use, demonstrate our strong commitment to our social corporate responsibility programme and support our local arts community.”
