I am able to drive performance namely due to my brilliant staff that support me and the North America tax, banking and finance roles. I’ve been blessed with staff that, in many cases, have been with me for more than ten years. Having such support allows me to get involved in areas reaching outside of tax, working on projects with Human Resource, participating on committees overseeing the pension, acquisitions, disposals and assisting our US businesses with setting up new ventures around the globe.
In my career, which has now reached thirty years, the last twelve with Premier Farnell, I’ve learned the benefits of team work, building relationships, listening more than talking and having a trusted portfolio of external advisors that bring experience and integrity to solving difficult challenges. The last bit of advice I try to live by comes at the end of each day; before leaving for home, just to take an extra minute and add one last item to your to do list. Over a year it’s amazing how it all adds up to building something great.

Team Spirit to me is taking ownership in your role on the team. Ensuring that what is produced will be in the best interest of the entire team. The spirit of a group makes all members want the group to succeed. Individual commitment to a group effort - that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work. A team cannot be successful on individual efforts alone; it is a collaborative effort that is unified and expressed through the entire group.

I get bored easily so it’s important to me to have the opportunity to learn and grow in my job. At Premier Farnell, developmental opportunities are readily available through on-the-job experiences, stretch assignments, projects, training and mentoring, and I have taken advantage of all these on both a local and global basis.
